Ohe Hano Ihu
The traditional Hawaiian instrument, Ohe Hano Ihu, is used in the opening melody, Cheongshin-ak, of this performance's first, second, and third pieces. Originally performed as a solo on a daegeum (Korean traditional bamboo flute), Cheongshin-ak is a piece of music for invoking spirits in the Namhaean Byeolsin Gut. In this performance, we play Cheongshin-ak using the Hawaiian traditional bamboo flute, Ohe Hano Ihu, to pay our respects to the local spirits and invite them into this space.
